We accomplish this with personalized customer experience, an unwavering commitment to safety, and a national network of professional drivers, helping to ensure quality, accountability, and reliability on every trip.The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. They ensure controls are maintained and take a proactive approach to their work. Must be able to think critically in a fast-paced environment and identify and resolve discrepancies timely. The ideal candidate can understand operational workflows' impact to the general ledger as well as financials. This role requires strong collaboration between cross functional teams to identify process improvements and support business growth and development. This role is for a professional looking to broaden their operational accounting acumen and progress into a more advanced leadership role. This position is onsite in Lombard, IL.Key ResponsibilitiesIndependently manage and oversee operational accounting activities across Treasury, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and other assigned subledger areasEnsure operational subledgers reconcile accurately and completely each month to the General LedgerMaintain strong ownership of operational accounting accuracy across assigned processesManage various Treasury operations, fixed assets, and procure to pay (P2P) functionsGenerate monthly accruals and monitor prepaid balancesCreate monthly journal entries timely, accurately, and ensure all contain proper supporting documentation including bank reconciliationsMonitor and clear aged accounts payable, intercompany transactions, process refunds and transfers in both NetSuite and JP MorganPartner with operational stakeholders to investigate discrepancies and drive processes improvementSafeguard company assets ensuring effective controls are in place to mitigate risk to the businessSupport finance transformation and systems enhancements initiatives within Finance and AccountingManage employee expense reporting system (Divvy) including reviewing and approving expenses, serving as card administrator and monitoring spending limitsDevelop and publish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Assist with management of Comdata carrier transactions and reportingProvide annual audit support and help prepare annual 1099 filingsAssist in management of facility and vehicle lease accounting and paymentsRespond to internal and external accounting inquiriesAssist in various Ad Hoc projects around cost savings initiativesSupport team through cross training and developmentDevelop KPIs and analytic dashboards for management useQualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA is a plus.5+ years of progressive accounting experience required.Experience supporting month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations, accounts payable, treasury, and operational accounting.Technical SkillsNetSuite, QuickBooks experience preferred; ERP experience required.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite required.Experience with banking platforms and expense management software preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.Ownership mindset with the ability to independently identify and resolve issues.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Able to manage multiple priorities within a growing, fast paced environment.Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record (MVR) required.Benefits include:Health, Dental and Optical InsuranceLife InsurancePaid Vacation / Wellbeing days401K ProgramAuto Driveaway participates in E-Verify to confirm employment eligibility.
