The Senior Accountant is a key member of the finance team responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting within a project-based construction environment. This role partners closely with finance leadership and operational teams to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making, optimize project performance, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. What you will be doing:

• Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules.
• Perform job-cost accounting, variance analysis, and project profitability tracking.
• Support revenue recognition processes in accordance with GAAP and ASC 606, including percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Collaborate with project managers and operations teams on cost forecasting and change-order accounting.
• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP), billing, and collections to support healthy cash flow.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable regulations.
• Assist with external audits, tax filings, and ESOP-related accounting requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and maximize the effectiveness of accounting systems.

What you must have:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in construction or project-based accounting environments.
• Strong understanding of job-cost accounting and revenue recognition methodologies.
• Proficiency with accounting systems (such as Vista, HCSS, or similar ERP platforms) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Valid driver's license.

Nice to have:

• CPA or CMA certification.
• Experience working for an ESOP or employee-owned organization.
• Familiarity with construction industry regulations, including prevailing wage and transportation-related projects.
• Experience with ERP implementations, system optimization, or process improvement initiatives.
