As part of our Camera Technologies group, you'll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last. You'll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. You'll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we'll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras.ResponsibilitiesDesign camera module structures and packaging in CAD.Design injection molded, sheet metal, PCB, and other component parts.Author detailed 2D manufacturing and inspection drawings.Perform rigorous tolerance analysis of module designs and component parts.Work with component part and camera manufacturing partners on design manufacturability and resolution of mechanical issues.Author clear documentation on mechanical inspection and test requirements.Direct FEA engineers on evaluation of camera designs.Minimum QualificationsBS degree.Mechanical design experience using CAD 3D molding and drafting package.Basic structural and thermal Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience.Experience with various materials (research, selection, testing, process ability).Preferred QualificationsMS degree and 10+ years relevant industry experienceExperience with NXTolerance analysis of high complexity and precision mechanical designs with excellent understanding of GD&T.Ability to design for plastic injection molding and metal stamping for mass production.Author documentations on mechanical inspection and fixture design.PCB design experience a plus.Magnetic simulation and voice coil motor (VCM) for cameraPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $184,700 and $324,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
