Reports To: Principal, Assistant Principal, Director. Job Goal: To lead students toward fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, psychological growth and maturation while implementing all goals and objectives of students’ Individual Education Plans. Terms of Employment: Salary and terms of employment according to approved salary schedules. Evaluations: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the district evaluation plan. Performance Responsibilities Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each pupil’s needs. Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize available instruction time. Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. Create an effective learning environment through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers. Maintain professional competence through district or self-selected professional growth activities. Monitor and address students’ physical, emotional, and intellectual needs on an ongoing informal basis. Implement all assigned students’ IEPs as written. Communicate challenging scholastic expectations in a clear, positive, continuous manner. Assess learning through open-ended questions, portfolios, and performance events. Establish and maintain standards of mutually respectful behavior. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with students, staff, and parents. Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. Administer group standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs. Participate in curriculum development programs as required. Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities. Report to the respective classroom at least fifteen minutes prior to the opening of school and remain at least fifteen minutes after official closing time. Maintain reports and records required by regulations of the Floyd County Board of Education and Kentucky Revised Statutes. Perform other related duties as assigned.
