Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:


The Labor and Delivery RN provides specialized maternity care to patients before, during, and after childbirth. This role involves managing high-risk pregnancies, monitoring fetal well-being, and delivering comprehensive prenatal and postnatal nursing care.

Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough assessments of obstetric patients, including physiologic and psychosocial data collection.
• Implement evidence-based care plans for labor, delivery, and postpartum stages while adhering to hospital policies.
• Educate patients and their families about labor, delivery processes, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
• Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for patient rights regardless of background or circumstances.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, doula, and support staff to coordinate patient care.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program and hold a current Washington State RN license.
• Obtain AWHONN’s Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification within 3 months of training completion.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS certifications required; NRP certification mandatory for working in MBU.
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in obstetrics, labor, or delivery preferred.
• Demonstrate strong critical thinking, crisis management, and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 30 lbs, performing CPR, and supporting patient mobility.
