Floor Manager

Bar Nuestro is a neighborhood bistro rooted in the rhythms of old-world Europe and the sazón of Latin America — a place where the aperitivo hour lingers, the dining room hums, and every gathering feels like it was meant to happen here. Opening at Navy Yard in summer 2026, we are building a team that leads with warmth, operates with precision, and believes that hospitality is something you feel. The Role The Floor Manager is the heartbeat of our dining room. You are the person guests feel before they see — setting the energy, holding the standard, and ensuring every table, every shift, every interaction reflects what Bar Nuestro is about. You will work closely with the General Manager to lead the FOH team, drive service excellence, and create an environment where the team wants to perform and guests want to return.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Own the floor during service — circulating, observing, and stepping in to elevate the guest experience in real time Run pre-shift meetings that inform, energize, and align the team on daily specials, reservations, and service priorities Manage table pacing, seating flow, and communication between FOH and BOH to keep service seamless Handle guest concerns and service recovery with grace, decisiveness, and follow-through Maintain and enforce Bar Nuestro's service standards, ensuring consistency across every shift Monitor dining room ambiance — lighting, music, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere — throughout service Team Management & Development Supervise, coach, and motivate FOH staff including servers, bussers, hosts, and bartenders Conduct on-the-floor training and reinforce standards daily; identify development opportunities for team members Manage shift assignments, side work, and station rotations in coordination with the GM Address performance issues in real time and elevate to the GM when appropriate Contribute to a culture of accountability, warmth, and pride in the work Operations & Administration Execute opening and closing procedures accurately and consistently Oversee cash handling, POS reconciliation, and end-of-shift reporting Manage reservation system (OpenTable or equivalent) and coordinate large-party logistics Monitor supply levels and flag inventory needs to management Assist with private events setup, execution, and breakdown in coordination with the Events Manager Document incidents, accidents, and guest feedback in accordance with company policy

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

3+ years of FOH experience in a full-service restaurant, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role A natural leader who commands respect on the floor without losing warmth — the team follows you because they want to Deep knowledge of food, wine, and cocktail service; able to speak confidently to guests about the menu Calm under pressure; you read a busy room quickly, prioritize without panic, and make sound calls in the moment Strong communicator — with guests, with the kitchen, and with your team Experience with reservation platforms (OpenTable preferred) and POS systems Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus — not required Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays; flexible to open or close as needed A genuine passion for hospitality and a belief that the details are everything Competitive base salary commensurate with experience Dining privileges across Bar Nuestro and the 5C Hospitality portfolio Paid time off A front-row seat to opening one of DC's most anticipated new restaurants Bar Nuestro is an equal opportunity employer.
