Job Summary BCSC is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Secondary Special Education Coordinator. This position supports the implementation and oversight of special education services for middle and high‑school-aged students. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, promotes inclusive practices, and collaborates closely with building administrators, teachers, related service providers, and families to support student success. Qualifications Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field Administrative licensure or enrollment in an administrative licensure program (preferred) Instructional Leadership Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of IEPs, ensuring alignment with best practices and student-centered outcomes. Provide direct supervision and programmatic oversight of specialized programming staff, ensuring fidelity of implementation, alignment with student needs, and consistency with district expectations. Partner with building administrators to advance inclusive practices and equitable access. Lead the analysis of student data to inform instructional decisions. Compliance & Case Management Ensure system-wide compliance with IDEA and all federal, state, and local regulations. Serve as the PAR and provide leadership in facilitating case conferences to ensure educationally appropriate outcomes. Monitor procedures to ensure accurate documentation, record-keeping, and reporting. Oversee timelines and processes related to evaluations and IEP implementation. Evaluation and IEP Writing Coordinate and oversee the evaluation process for students referred for special education, ensuring comprehensive, timely, and legally compliant practices. Collaborate to ensure comprehensive and appropriate evaluations. Provide leadership and technical assistance to staff in the IEP writing process. Staff Support & Professional Development Design, coordinate, and facilitate professional development on special education topics, including instruction, compliance, and behavioral supports. Provide ongoing support to staff to strengthen the implementation of evidence-based instructional and behavioral practices. Behavioral Supports & Crisis Response Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of BIPs to ensure effectiveness and alignment with student needs. Facilitate and lead CPI teams by coordinating proactive planning, guiding de‑escalation and crisis response efforts, and ensuring staff are trained and supported in implementing effective behavioral interventions. Family & Community Engagement Promote and sustain meaningful engagement through clear communication, collaboration, and partnership in the educational process. Serve as a liaison between school teams and families to ensure transparency and trust. Collaborate with outside agencies and community partners as appropriate.
