RN - Labor & Delivery

● About Facility: Rural, 81 bed facility located in Elkin, NC part of the Atrium Health Wake Forrest Baptist system

● General Information:

o Beds: 12 beds- 7LDRP and 5 overflow

▪ Census? Average patients/day? 0-6

o Minimum Years of Experience? 2

o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes

● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

o OB Triage, antepartum, postpartum

● Patient Ratios:

o 1:1-2

● Required Licensure & Certifications:

o ADN required, BSN preferred

o NC or compact RN license

o BLS, ACLS, NRP and Intermittent fetal monitoring required

● Skills required:

o Assess and care for laboring patients throughout labor and through delivery

o Assess and treat OB triage patients > 20 weeks

o Assess and care for newborns

o Assess and care for postpartum couplets

o Assist NNP in treating and stabilizing newborns

o Circulate in urgent or emergent C sections

● Support within the Department:

o CNA? Ratio? Duties? CNA staffed on most shifts. They act as unit secretaries, patient care techs, and scrub in for emergent C sections

o Receptionist/HUC

o Charge nurse? 1 nurse assigned as charge for each shift

o Phlebotomy? Yes

o IV/VAT Team? No

o 2 days unit-based orientation

o RTO approvals: Yes, if requested in advance
