Tool Room Attendant

Role Synopsis This is a key role that is responsible for the control of machine shop tooling, gages and raw material inventory and its efficient distribution to the shop floor. This will be a hands-on role with constant interaction with shop supervision and machinists. Control the distribution of company owned inspection tools and gages. Control the distribution of cutting tools, issue tools and supplies to production personnel. Inspect used tools and either discard or return to assigned tool room or vending location. Assist operations with data collection regarding tool life and usage. Requisition tooling and supplies for the machine shop and maintenance. Preview work orders and ensure all required tooling and consumables are available for the production run; assemble the tooling for distribution to the shop floor. Setup tools in pre-setter as required. Work with outside vendors to maintain accurate and appropriate inventory of cutting tools and supplies on site at Gilmore. Perform other work-related tasks, as assigned. Experience Essential Previous experience in a production machine or job shop. Thorough knowledge of carbide inserts and cutting tools. Ability to operate a tool pre-setter. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel and Office. Fluent in English language; read, write and speak. Basic math skills. Able to identify and solve problems, manage multiple priorities and multi-task. Ability to understand engineering drawings and use of inspection tooling. Physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations. Physical Dexterity required; ability to ascend/descend ladders; ability to stand, walk, bend, sit, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and move objects for 8 to 12 hours per day. Speak/hear and use specific vision abilities such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Capability of properly using standard office equipment including a computer with a keyboard. Ability to wear and utilize Personal Protective Safety Equipment (PPE). Required equipment includes steel toed shoes, safety glasses/goggles. Additional PPE may be required, e.g., safety harnesses, Fire Retardant Clothing (FRC), hard hats, or other as assigned.
