NOW HIRING – TWO FULL-TIME POSITIONS

The Village of Lemont is excited to announce two full-time openings within our Public Works Department for a Maintenance Worker I or Maintenance Worker II . Our Public Works Department includes the following divisions:

• Streets & Maintenance
• Water & Sewer
• Fleet Maintenance

This position reports directly to experienced Crew Leaders within the Streets & Maintenance Division and plays an important role in maintaining the safety, appearance, and functionality of Village infrastructure.

Position Overview

The Village is hiring for both:

• Maintenance Worker I – Entry to mid-level candidates
• Maintenance Worker II – Experienced candidates with advanced skills and years of relevant experience

Placement and compensation will be determined based on qualifications, certifications, and years of experience.

This position performs a wide variety of street maintenance, construction, repair, and operational duties. Employees operate construction and maintenance equipment such as:

• Dump trucks
• Street sweepers
• Tractors
• Skip loaders
• Snow removal equipment
• Various hand and power tools

Responsibilities may include:

• Street, sidewalk, curb, and gutter repairs
• Sewer and storm drain maintenance
• Water main and infrastructure repairs
• Traffic sign installation and repair
• Pavement marking and paint crew operations
• Snow and ice removal
• General maintenance and labor support throughout the Village

This role includes both manual labor and skilled/semi-skilled maintenance work and offers excellent opportunities for growth and advancement within the department.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range:

$54,000 + Depending on Qualifications
Salary is flexible and based on experience, qualifications, and placement as either Maintenance Worker I or Maintenance Worker II.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Illinois Class “B” CDL with air brake endorsement
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Positive attitude, initiative, and willingness to learn
Dependable, self-motivated, and safety-conscious
