Pediatric Psychologist - Cardiology

Position Pediatric Psychologist – full‑time position in the Division of Pediatric Psychology and Neuropsychology at Levine Children’s Hospital (Atrium Health Levine Children’s Congenital Heart Center). Work Hours & Schedule 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. No nights, weekends, or overnight shift. Compensation $54.90 – $82.35 per hour (based on qualifications and experience). Responsibilities Provide evidence‑based consultation‑liaison, assessment, and intervention services to pediatric patients and families in inpatient and outpatient settings. Deliver individual and family psychotherapy, psychosocial assessments, and care coordination with interdisciplinary teams. Perform neurodevelopmental assessments where applicable. Participate in training of psychology practicum students and other trainees. Engage in clinical research, quality improvement projects, and new program development. Eligible for faculty appointment through Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Dept. of Pediatrics. Essential Functions Conduct assessments based on clinical interview and established program standards. Formulate diagnosis using DSM‑5 criteria. Develop treatment plans tailored to patient diagnosis, age, and presentation. Collaborate with guardians to ensure effective service delivery. Provide clinical supervision to predoctoral interns and graduate practicum students. Conduct forensic evaluations and court testimonies as directed. Select, administer, and interpret psychological instruments, including written reports. Apply diverse treatment modalities based on current clinical standards. Write discharge plans and manage termination process. Manage crisis situations with appropriate assessment and intervention. Physical Requirements Work in patient care area; ability to walk, stand, lift, reach, and handle charts and supplies. Must operate safely around potentially combative or self‑destructive patients. Education, Experience and Certification Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from an APA‑approved training program. Licensed or license‑eligible as Licensed Practicing Psychologist by the N.C. State Board of Examiners of Practicing Psychologists. BLS required. Completed pediatric or child clinical psychology internship (or equivalent). Strong preference for pediatric psychology fellowship and experience in pediatric inpatient settings. PSYPACT licensure encouraged. Benefits Paid Time Off.
