CNC MachinistLocation: Thomaston, CT Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Pay Range: $28.50–$33.50/hour DOE Shift: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM–2:30 PM or 7:00 AM–3:30 PM Overtime: Available as neededPosition OverviewM Force Partners is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to support precision manufacturing operations in Thomaston, CT. This 1st shift, contract-to-hire opportunity focuses on producing complex, tight-tolerance components using advanced multi-axis CNC equipment.The ideal CNC Machinist has at least 5 years of precision machining experience with hands-on expertise setting up and operating multi-axis CNC lathes, Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs), and/or 5-axis mill-turn equipment. This individual should be comfortable optimizing existing CNC programs, machining challenging materials, interpreting GD&T, and independently making adjustments to maintain quality and production requirements.This CNC Machinist position is well suited for someone who enjoys technically challenging machining work and wants an opportunity to transition into long-term permanent employment.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate multi-axis CNC lathes, VTLs, and 5-axis mill-turn machinesManufacture complex precision components, including shafts, housings, and related assembliesOptimize existing CNC programs to improve cycle times, machining performance, tool life, and part qualityInstall, set up, and adjust tooling, fixtures, machine offsets, and workholdingRead and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, and manufacturing instructionsMachine components to tight dimensional and geometric tolerancesPerform in-process and final dimensional inspectionsUse micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision measurement equipmentUtilize automated inspection systems and CNC touch probes to verify dimensions when applicableMonitor machining operations and make independent adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and qualityTroubleshoot tooling, setup, machining, and mechanical issuesDocument machine setups, inspections, tooling changes, and production resultsCollaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve machining and manufacturing issuesPerform routine preventive maintenance on CNC equipmentSupport production schedules while maintaining established quality standardsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentFollow applicable quality, safety, and manufacturing proceduresRequired QualificationsMinimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environmentHands-on experience setting up and operating multi-axis CNC equipmentExperience with VTLs and/or 5-axis mill-turn machinesAbility to optimize existing CNC programs and make machining adjustments independentlyStrong blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation skillsStrong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)Experience producing complex, tight-tolerance machined componentsExperience machining materials such as steel, cast iron, stainless steel, Inconel, or other heat-resistant alloysProficiency with precision inspection equipment, including micrometers, bore gauges, and height gaugesAbility to install and adjust tooling, fixtures, work offsets, and machine parametersStrong mechanical aptitude and machining troubleshooting skillsHigh school diploma or equivalentAbility to work independently while collaborating with Engineering, Quality, and Production teamsU.S. Person status required due to applicable defense-related requirementsAbility to work onsite in Thomaston, CT on 1st shiftPreferred QualificationsExperience with FANUC, Siemens, or Okuma OSP CNC controls5-axis machining experienceMill-turn machining experienceVertical Turning Lathe (VTL) experienceExperience with automated measurement systemsCNC touch probe experienceExperience machining Inconel or other difficult-to-machine alloysExperience working within ISO 9001 or similar quality systemsFormal machining education, apprenticeship, or technical certificationExperience manufacturing components for defense, aerospace, electric motors, or other highly regulated precision applications
