Test Bench Engineer
AAA Engineering & Test Lab
TEST BENCH ENGINEER - Microelectronics & MIL-STD Electrical Testing US Citizenship Required (ITAR) AAA Engineering & Test Lab is seeking an experienced Test Bench Engineer to support mission‑critical aerospace, defense, and high‑reliability programs. This is not a standard Monday–Friday, 8–5 role. Our environment demands flexibility, technical rigor, and a willingness to put in the effort required to meet urgent customer needs. If you are a hands‑on tinkerer, driven by engineering challenge, and capable of independently building and debugging complex test benches, you will thrive here. What You Will Do You will take full ownership of semiconductor and microelectronics test bench development across MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-750, MIL-STD-202, and custom test methodologies. This includes: Building complete electrical test setups from device datasheets and MIL-STD test plans Designing or configuring PCB test interfaces, DUT boards, Burn‑In boards, and custom fixtures Setting up, validating, and debugging complex test benches, from signal integrity issues to timing, pattern generation, load conditions, thermal forcing, and programming sequences Operating advanced electrical test instrumentation: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, curve tracers, PXIe pattern generators, VNAs, TDRs, DMMs, power supplies, and environmental chambers Developing, modifying, and maintaining LabVIEW‑based automated test solutions Executing precise, repeatable electrical and environmental testing with high data accuracy Creating engineering documentation and supporting customer‑facing reports You will directly influence the quality and reliability of components used in aircraft, satellites, defense systems, and other mission‑critical platforms. Qualifications We are hiring a mid‑career engineer with 4–8 years of real, hands‑on test bench experience. You must be able to: Translate semiconductor datasheets into actionable test conditions Set up, validate, and debug complex electrical test benches Design or configure basic DUT/PCB/Burn‑In boards Build custom circuits or prototypes when needed Work confidently with PXIe systems, oscilloscopes, pattern generators, and other lab equipment Develop or maintain automated tests using LabVIEW Deliver accurate test data with disciplined documentation If your experience is largely theoretical, academic, or software‑only, this position will not be a fit. Equipment You’ll Work With Regularly Logic analyzers Curve tracers & SMUs VNAs & TDRs Function & signal generators Digital multimeters & micro‑ohm meters DC power supplies Thermal Shock, HAST, THB, and Temp Cycling chambers Thermostream temperature‑forcing systems Chip programmers & memory testers Breadboards, prototyping tools, and fixture‑building equipment This is a role for someone who enjoys being surrounded by instrumentation and knows how to make it all work together. Who Thrives at AAA Are natural tinkerers who enjoy building and debugging complex setups Take pride in ownership, follow‑through, and professional integrity Thrive in an autonomous environment where excellence, not minimums is the standard Understand that testing critical aerospace hardware often requires flexible hours and a willingness to push through challenges Enjoy rapid learning, rapid building, and rapid solving Embody AAA’s 3Cs:
- Character - Integrity, honesty, respect
- Competency - Technical depth, disciplined execution, documentation
- Commitment - Grit, effort, teamwork, and accountability
