Senior Powertrain Systems Validation Engineer

The Qualification Testing (ICE and BEV) team operates within the Vehicle & Propulsion Controls organization and is responsible for ensuring validation coverage, software quality, and diagnostic robustness across propulsion programs.The Senior Powertrain Systems Validation Engineer plays a key technical role in developing and executing validation activities, supporting validation strategy, and ensuring high‑quality software delivery. This role works closely with the Validation Project Lead to drive comprehensive testing, issue resolution, and system‑level validation for propulsion control systems.Key Responsibilities:Develop and execute Design Verification Plans (DVPs) for propulsion system requirements, ensuring thorough validation coverage at the subsystem and system levelCritically evaluate requirements for testability, completeness, and potential gaps, and support refinement efforts with engineering stakeholdersDefine and implement test strategies for assigned systems, including identification of critical scenarios, edge‑case maneuvers, and failure modesDetermine and execute validation activities using appropriate environments (HIL, vehicle, SIL, bench) based on test objectivesConduct validation testing across propulsion architectures using HIL and vehicle platforms, ensuring accurate and repeatable resultsPerform detailed issue investigation and pre‑analysis, supporting efficient root cause identification and resolutionCollaborate cross‑functionally with Controls, Diagnostics, Calibration, and Validation teams to resolve issues and improve system performanceSupport validation status tracking by providing clear reporting on test coverage, results, and technical risksContribute to continuous improvement of validation methodologies, DVP quality, and test efficiencyBasic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field5 years of overall experienceExperience developing and executing Design Verification Plans (DVPs) for propulsion or automotive systemsStrong understanding of propulsion systems (ICE and/or BEV), including sensors, actuators, and control strategiesHands-on experience with HIL and vehicle testing environments, including test execution, fault injection, and issue investigationProven ability to perform root cause analysis and contribute to issue resolutionExperience working in a cross-functional engineering environment (e.g., Controls, Calibration, Diagnostics, Validation)Strong communication skills and ability to clearly present test results, validation coverage, and technical findingsPreferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Systems EngineeringStrong system-level understanding of both ICE and BEV propulsion architecturesExperience supporting development of DVPs and validation strategies across subsystems or programsExperience selecting and utilizing appropriate validation environments (HIL, vehicle, SIL, bench) based on test objectivesKnowledge of OBD diagnostics, DTC strategies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., SAE J1979, J1699)Familiarity with functional safety concepts (ISO 26262) and safety-related validation requirementsExperience designing and validating edge-case scenarios and failure modes in complex control systemsDemonstrated ability to drive technical issue investigation and collaborate across teams to resolve complex problemsExperience with ALM tools (e.g., DNG, Quality Manager) and requirements-to-test traceabilityAbility to assess and communicate validation coverage, technical risk, and test status to support program decisionsExperience working in a multi-program development environment with competing prioritiesBrand: FCA GroupJob ID: 2018342Employment Type: Full-timeJob Area: EngineeringPosted Date: 30/07/2026
