Maintenance Technician - microSource Shakopee, MN

$30-$32 an hour - Full-Time - In-Person

We are seeking a skilled and safety-minded Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will help ensure the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of our liquid fertilizer processing and packaging equipment. Responsibilities include performing preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and responding to production equipment breakdowns.

The ideal candidate has experience with industrial pumps, fluid transfer systems, automated filling and packaging equipment, and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. Experience in chemical, fertilizer, agricultural, or other process manufacturing environments is preferred. The ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is essential.

Equipment:

• Tools: All industrial tools, heavy duty diagnostic equipment, and specialist meters are 100% Company-provided.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine preventative and predictive maintenance on liquid fertilizer production equipment, including blenders, industrial mixers, high-capacity pumps, valves, and chemical transfer piping.
• Anhydrous Ammonia System Care: Assist in the routine inspection and mechanical maintenance of anhydrous ammonia storage and transfer systems under strict adherence to safety protocols.
• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic breakdowns quickly to minimize production downtime on high-speed bottling or bulk filling lines.
• Corrosion & Fluid System Management: Inspect, repair, and maintain chemical-resistant storage tanks, industrial piping systems, and liquid transfer components to prevent leaks, environmental contamination, or chemical corrosion.
• Automation & Conveyors: Maintain and troubleshoot automated packaging systems, including conveyors, labeling equipment, capping machinery, and palletizers.
• Electrical Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical issues on control panels, sensors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and basic Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) inputs/outputs.
• Safety & Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), OSHA regulations, PPE requirements for handling chemicals, and environmental safety standards.
• Documentation: Log all maintenance activities, routine inspections, and parts used within the facility’s tracking system.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in industrial maintenance is a plus.
• 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience, experience in liquid manufacturing, chemical processing, fertilizer, or agricultural environments is preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with extensive experience in industrial pumps (centrifugal, positive displacement, diaphragm) and corrosive fluid handling.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, including three-phase power up to 480V preferred.
• Familiarity with chemical safety practices and standard material compatibility (e.g., stainless steel, PVC, HDPE).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work in varying weather and production conditions, and stand or walk for extended periods.
• Ammonia Safety Training Provided: Experience with anhydrous ammonia is a major plus, but comprehensive, specialized system and safety training will be fully provided by the company.
