Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher in a self-contained Academic Life Skills classroom focused on supporting students with diverse needs, including autism, Down syndrome, and medical requirements. This contract position offers a fulfilling full-time schedule, running Monday through Friday from 8:35 AM to 3:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide adapted life-skills instruction designed to promote independence and academic growth for each student.
• Manage and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring all documentation, goals, and strategies meet state guidelines.
• Deliver daily classroom and medical accommodation support, collaborating with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families.
• Foster a safe, nurturing learning environment that accommodates a range of cognitive and physical needs.
• Assess, track, and report student progress using data-driven methods; modify instructional strategies to maximize student potential.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain best practices in special education.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Endorsement.
• Proven experience working in a self-contained classroom, particularly with low-incidence and life-skills populations.
• Strong familiarity with IEP processes and effective accommodations for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Exceptional communication, organization, and collaboration skills to connect with students, staff, and families.
• Commitment to equity, individualized support, and inclusive educational practices.
