Description:
The Surgical Technician-NCA assists other members of the healthcare team in the delivery of patient care during the intra-operative period.


The major focus of this position is on the preparation and handling of instrumentation and surgical equipment while assisting the surgeon during surgical procedures.


This individual administers care and uses equipment applications based on the age and needs of the patient population served, from neonates through geriatrics.


The Surgical Technician must be knowledgeable of specific procedures or specialties.


Effective prioritization, planning, and problem-solving are essential due to the changing nature of work during surgical procedures.


This individual must have the ability to recognize the need for an immediate response during urgent or emergency situations.


Basic knowledge of medical terminology, the metric system, and aseptic technique must be applied in all patient and family interactions.


Responsibilities include displaying aseptic technique in the performance of surgical duties to ensure positive patient outcomes.


Demonstrating responsibility for the care, preparation, handling, and maintenance of surgical instrumentation is essential.


Consistent performance of sponge, sharps, and instrument counts according to policy and procedure is required.


Demonstration of knowledge and adherence to professional standards of practice is necessary.
