Be part of a team that values innovation, integrity, and professional growth.As an Employment Counsel on the Consumer & Community Bank Legal team, you will oversee a diverse docket of employment cases at various stages, from threatened litigation through trial, across multiple jurisdictions and forums. You will investigate allegations, manage outside counsel, provide strategic risk assessments, and communicate with stakeholders throughout the firm. This role offers the opportunity to become a trusted advisor, delivering legal counsel and strategic advice on employment law matters, preparing and reviewing Human Resources policies and agreements, and collaborating with Human Resources and other colleagues on cross-business workforce projects.The Legal Department at JPMorgan Chase & Co. manages legal and other risks, advises on products and services, interprets laws and regulations that impact the firm, and advises the firm on other matters. If these values resonate with you, we would like to hear from you.Job Responsibilities:Manage a docket of employment cases from pre-litigation through hearing/trial in various jurisdictions and forumsInvestigate allegations and oversee outside counsel in employment litigation mattersServe as a trusted advisor and advance the firm’s people strategy by providing strategic legal counsel, risk assessments, and litigation management to internal stakeholdersHandle labor and employment issues including performance management, employee discipline, termination, severance, and workplace investigationsCounsel on wage and hour issues, workplace accommodations, incentive pay, and protection of intellectual property and confidential informationDevelop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as an effective influencer within the firmDemonstrate a commitment to integrity, fairness, a positive workplace culture and supporting firmwide performance standards Communicate complex legal concepts clearly through excellent oral and written communicationUtilize eDiscovery/ESI tools and manage case documentation efficientlyLeverage digital solutions, workflow tools and legal technology to drive operational excellence and scale legal support across the Corporate SectorCollaborate with Human Resources and other teams on cross-line of business workforce projectsRequired Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:Juris Doctor (JD) required; licensed to practice law and member in good standing in relevant jurisdictionMinimum 3+ years of post-JD recent, relevant, and broad employment litigation experience in a major law firm, large in-house setting, or equivalentDemonstrated knowledge of state and federal employment discrimination statutes and common law employment claimsExperience handling a full range of labor and employment issues, including policy development, employment agreements, FLSA, FMLA, wage and hour, workplace accommodationsDemonstrated ability to leverage technology and digital tools to deliver legal services at scale, including workflow solutions, document automation, and legal research platformsStrong organizational skills with ability to manage high volume and balance competing demandsExperience developing and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as an effective influencer, and collaborating across teams.Excellent oral and written communication skillsStrong knowledge of eDiscovery/ESI processesHigh competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and LEXIS/WestlawPreferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:Arbitration experience Employment litigation and counseling experience with financial services and/or retail clientsExperience advising on mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactionsProject management skills and backgroundFamiliarity with collaboration tools such as SharePoint and PowerPoint, case management applications, and customer account management applicationsExperience working on cross-functional workforce projectsAll candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.
