We are a non-denominational, coeducational Christ-centered school in NE Albuquerque, serving families of children from preschool to high school. Since its founding in 1976, Hope Christian School has prayed for, equipped, and sent nearly 3,000 graduates to change the world. Annually, Hope Christian School educates approximately 1,400 students from Preschool through 12th grade. Job Summary: The High School Teacher – Anatomy & Physiology is responsible for providing an engaging and effective learning environment for students. The teacher will plan, implement, and evaluate lessons in anatomy and physiology to ensure students achieve academic success and develop critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and scientific inquiry skills. The teacher will provide professional instruction grounded in biological and health science principles while integrating Biblical principles and a Christian worldview. In addition to delivering content, the teacher will foster student growth, contribute to a positive school culture, and collaborate with staff, parents, and administrators to support student success.

Instructional Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and deliver Anatomy & Physiology lessons aligned with curriculum standards, school expectations, and the approved course scope and sequence.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to support diverse learning needs, including differentiated instruction, inquiry-based learning, laboratory investigations, technology integration, dissections, anatomical models, and hands-on activities.
  • Foster active student engagement and scientific reasoning through discussions, case studies, laboratory experiences, collaborative group work, and problem-solving activities.
  • Teach the structure and function of human body systems, emphasizing the interdependence of systems in maintaining health and homeostasis.
  • Provide instruction in foundational and advanced Anatomy & Physiology concepts, including human body organization and anatomical terminology; basic chemistry and biomolecules; cell anatomy and physiology; tissues and membranes; the skeletal, muscular, endocrine, nervous, cardiovascular, urinary, digestive, reproductive, lymphatic, and immune systems; blood composition and circulation; conception and fetal development; and laboratory investigations, including fetal pig dissections.

Classroom Management

  • Establish and maintain clear expectations for behavior, creating a respectful, safe, and positive learning environment.
  • Implement effective classroom and laboratory management strategies to ensure a productive and safe learning environment for all students.
  • Maintain compliance with laboratory safety standards and procedures, including the safe handling of specimens, equipment, and biological materials.
  • Address individual student needs, including academic support or behavioral intervention, in a professional and supportive manner.

Student Support and Development

  • Provide academic support and mentorship to students, helping them set goals and develop strong study habits.
  • Recognize and celebrate student achievements, both academically and personally.
  • Identify students needing additional help and provide extra support or refer them to appropriate resources, such as tutoring or counseling services.
  • Guide students in developing essential skills like time management, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and scientific inquiry.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with colleagues in subject-specific teams, interdisciplinary groups, and school-wide committees to ensure a consistent and integrated learning
  • experience for all students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss students’
  • progress, achievements, and any concerns through conferences, phone calls, or emails.
  • Partner with school leadership and staff to support student success and promote a Christ-centered educational environment.

Curriculum and Instructional Planning

  • Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education into anatomy and physiology instruction.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and school expectations.
  • Integrate technology, laboratory tools, models, simulations, and digital resources to enhance learning experiences and student engagement.
  • Promote an understanding of health, wellness, and stewardship of the human body from a Biblical perspective.

Professional Development

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, laboratory work, and assessments.
  • Prepare and submit reports, progress reports, and other documentation in a timely manner or as directed by the High School Principal.
  • Participate in school meetings, parent-teacher conferences, professional development opportunities, and extracurricular activities as needed.
  • Follow all school policies and procedures, including those related to safety, laboratory protocols, and discipline.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and assessments.
  • Prepare and submit reports, progress reports, and other documentation in a timely manner or as directed by the High School Principal.
  • Participate in school meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and extracurricular activities as needed.
  • Follow all school policies and procedures, including those related to safety and discipline.
Requirements:
  • Have received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ.
  • Cooperate and comply with the Hope Christian School administration with implementing all policies, procedures and directives governing the operation of the school.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Health Sciences, Science Education, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred .
  • Required: New Mexico state teaching credential, ACSI certification, or ACTS certification acceptable at a minimum for 2 years.
  • Experience teaching high school anatomy and physiology, biology or health sciences preferred .
  • Strong content knowledge anatomy and physiology, including laboratory instruction and safety procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom and laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with differentiated instruction, classroom technology, laboratory equipment, and educational software.
