The Medical Assistant OpportunityThe Medical Assistant (MA) supports providers in delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate outpatient psychiatric care. This role performs clinical and administrative duties including patient intake, medication administration, lab and diagnostic coordination, phone triage, medical records management, and care coordination. MA's contribute to a welcoming environment and ensure continuity and quality of care for patients and families across the behavioral health continuum.Compensation and Benefits:The starting pay range for this role is $20.69 - $23.50, based on education and experience.This job is full-time and in person, usually working 8:00am - 4:30pm weekdays.PTO, paid holidays, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, accident insurance, hospital insurance, employee assistance program and more.As a full-time employee of NCHC, you are eligible for the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). Participating staff contribute 7.2% and NCHC will match this at 100% each pay period!What Qualifies You:Required:Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant ProgramCurrent BLS (CPR) certificationPreferred:More than 1 year of experience in a medical or behavioral health settingIn evaluating candidates for this position, North Central Health Care may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.What a Medical Assistant does at NCHC:Room patients and obtain vital signs, chief complaint, allergies, medication reconciliation, medical/surgical/family/substance history.Collect urine drug screens.Administer and document provider-ordered injections, including long-acting injectables, following established protocols and required consents.Process and facilitate lab orders and referrals per provider direction.Order labs and referrals per provider direction.Assist with medication refill requests and coordination.Monitor and support patient progress as directed by providers.Maintain exam room and equipment cleanliness and readiness.Receive, gather information, document, categorize, and route patient phone callsRequest and review outside medical records to support patient care.Collaborate with providers, therapists, Crisis Services, and inpatient teams to ensure continuity of care.Contact patients for scheduling, follow-ups, result notifications, and care coordination.Schedule appointments and support efficient patient flow.Data entry of forms and assessments (e.g., client surveys, C-SSRS) as needed.Document all patient interactions in the EHR accurately and timely.Prepare client communications and support office functions (mail, faxes, chart requests).Participate in staff meetings, training, and quality improvement activities.Assist staff and providers as needed to ensure smooth clinic operations.Other duties as assigned.Working Environment and Physical Requirements:May be required to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting and turning with occasional sittingExposure to bodily fluids and communicable diseases through routine patient care.Occasional exposure to individuals displaying agitated or hostile behaviors due to their diagnosis.Indoor clinical environment with exposure to cleaning and disinfecting products.About North Central Health Care:Nestled in the heart of Central Wisconsin, North Central Health Care (NCHC) is a healthcare organization formed over fifty years ago as a partnership between three Central Wisconsin counties - Langlade, Lincoln, and Marathon.
