What You Will Do Lead multidisciplinary teams to tackle MSEN transmissions’ top technical issues and seamlessly integrate gearbox designs, presenting key results to customers and executive leadership. Perform comprehensive design and analysis on aerospace hardware across varied gear types (spur, helical, bevel, and spiral bevel) using automated tools, FEA, and precise hand calculations. Spearhead transmission root‑cause investigation teams—directing work, assigning and closing action items, and delivering findings to engineering leadership. Review team members’ work and provide hands‑on guidance to less experienced engineers with a focus on accelerating proficiency. Actively manage, align, and integrate complex technical requirements of external suppliers holding design ownership. Lead entire test programs, including rig development, test plan creation, instrumentation/limit selection, pre‑test predictions, data post‑processing, and reporting. Advance gear manufacturing readiness (hobbing, shaping, broaching, milling, heat treating, superfinishing) while improving ESW/EKS, analytical tools, and training materials. Travel: 10% (Domestic and International). What You Will Learn Hands‑on exposure to proprietary next‑generation propulsion technologies that reshape military aviation and sustainable commercial flight. Influence and collaborate directly with Pratt & Whitney program executives and global aerospace customers. Master and pioneer state‑of‑the‑art analytical tools and digital thread integrations unique to Pratt & Whitney’s world‑renowned engineering ecosystem. Qualifications You Must Have Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with 10 years of gear design and analysis experience, or advanced degree with 7 years of gear design and analysis experience. At least 3 years of direct experience working with complex Mechanical Systems hardware with proven expertise in industry‑standard tools for gear design and manufacturing. Qualifications We Prefer Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or actively pursuing an advanced degree in a related field. Active U.S. Security Clearance. Exceptional communication, task coordination, and cross‑functional leadership skills. Proficiency in Gleason Works software and Siemens NX. What We Offer Relocation: Eligible for relocation. Work location: Onsite at our East Hartford, CT campus (preferred) or our West Palm Beach, FL campus. The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD – 251,600 USD.
