Medical Surgical Float Pool - Travel Registered Nurse- $2730 per week.

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Cerner is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 18 months of MedSurg and/or ICU experience and Epic or Cerner experience. If strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required. At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Chemo experience highly preferred but not required.

Special Requests: You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility. Must be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler, measured from last shift worked to start date. Up to 7 days off may be approved, excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/EANH approval. Baptist blackout dates during this assignment include Halloween 10/30-11/2 and Thanksgiving 11/26-11/30. Holiday time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival.

Unit Details: Float pool home units may include 6 North Trauma Surgical, 5 South Neuroscience, 5 North MedSurg/Oncology, 3 South Orthopedics, and 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology. 6 North Trauma Surgical cares for general surgery and vascular surgery patients; skills include wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations. 5 South Neuroscience cares for CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative disease, post-trauma, and angiogram patients; skills include IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tubes, surgical site care, C-collars, abdominal binders, and restraints. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology cares for MedSurg/Oncology, palliative care, and ETOH withdrawal patients in a high-acuity, fast-paced setting; chemo administration is performed if certified, and telemetry is monitored by tele techs on the ground floor. 3 South Orthopedics cares for orthopedic and spine patients including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies; skills include PCA pumps, negative-pressure dressings, dressing changes, foleys, and hemovac/JP drains. 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology cares for urology, ENT, ortho, and MedSurg patients; skills include trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, and nurse-driven foley protocol. RNs are required to interpret and confirm telemetry strip readings every 4 hours. Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors.

Shift & Scheduling: Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. Weekend rotation: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. No call. One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. 4-week schedule cycle; no self-scheduling, uses Smart Square.

Floating Requirements: Float to like units/patient locations: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds.

7 days maximum time off.
