Senior Actuarial Analyst (Specialty Lines)

ICW Group is hiring a skilled actuarial professional to support pricing, reserving, analytics, and systems integration, and to contribute to the development of pricing tools and predictive analytics throughout the organization. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Provides complex analyses and participates in process development to support company objectives. Provides technical, actuarial analyses in the areas of pricing, reserving, analytics, and systems integration. Supports development and enhancement of pricing tools for E&S product lines. Performs individual large complex accounts pricing review and works closely with E&S underwriters. Identifies potential issues, weighs analysis results, and recommends mitigation strategies and solutions through sound decision‑making. Builds and enhances the pricing framework by assessing profitability metrics, closing pricing disparities, expanding modeling capabilities, and exploring additional parameters. Manages multiple core/critical processes within the department. Modifies processes as needed to improve accuracy and efficiency. Project Management Completes assigned projects ensuring on‑time delivery within scope. Provides regular status updates to project/task lead. Ensures key stakeholders are identified and regularly informed of project status. Assumes responsibility for multiple concurrent projects. Collaborates with individuals in other departments to fulfill the actuarial role within larger projects. Promotes the use of predictive analytics throughout the organization. Knowledge Development and Mentorship Provides training and technical guidance to actuarial department staff to support a self‑sustaining culture. Develops the skill to efficiently review others’ work and provide valuable feedback. Broadens knowledge around business rules, industry structure, emerging events, and alternate data sources. Learns and applies current analytic tools and methods, staying abreast of professional developments and industry trends. Fosters positive, collaborative working relationships with higher‑level experts across the organization. Researches, develops, and applies new analytical techniques, sharing knowledge with peers and teammates. Qualifications Technical Skills Proficient in Excel, Python, and SQL. Strong understanding of rating structures, pricing methodologies, and insurance operations. Strong technical pricing skills and knowledge of stochastic simulation techniques. Soft Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to explain complex actuarial concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently while contributing to team initiatives. Strategic thinker with a proactive attitude and comfort working in ambiguity. Ability to work independently in deriving solutions to new business problems. Supervisory Responsibilities This role does not have direct reports but may mentor and/or train junior team members. Education And Experience Bachelor's degree from a four‑year college or university required with a major or emphasis in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field. Minimum of four Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams required. Minimum three years of related experience required. Experience in commercial lines pricing preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations None required. Knowledge And Skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills; thorough knowledge of actuarial models and the ability to assess results; working knowledge of emerging analytic techniques; practice critical thought in enhancing existing products and processes; ability to make sound decisions within areas of responsibility with minimal supervisory input; ability to fully manage a complex product, requiring expertise spanning actuarial methods, advanced analytic techniques, in‑depth business knowledge, and in‑depth systems and data knowledge. Physical Requirements Office environment – no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands. Employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear. Work Environment This position operates in an office environment and requires frequent use of a computer, telephone, copier, and other standard office equipment. Salary Range $95,378.98 – $160,850.17. This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final base salary will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education, and the location of the role.
