Travel RN - Med/SurgAmerican TravelerWilmington, North Carolina, United StatesPosition ID: P-759194Position status: OpenAssignment type: travelShift: NightsLength (weeks): 13Openings: 1$1,993.00/week (estimated advertised weekly pay)DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for an Ortho Trauma/General Surgery unit requiring 2 years of experience and NC or compact RN licensure.DetailsMed/Surg/Telemetry unit caring for ortho trauma and general surgery patientsPatient diagnoses include severe bone, joint, and soft tissue injuries, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, and neurological traumaNight shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)36 or 48 hour contracts accepted, 13-26 week assignmentsPatient ratio of 1:5-6Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holdingEvery other weekend requiredNo on-call requirementsUses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR charting systemsContract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disastersRequirementsActive NC or compact RN license (pending license/certs OK for consideration)BLS required, ACLS preferred2 years of RN experience requiredOrtho/Neuro/Trauma experience requiredCharge experience preferredExperience with 1:5-6 patient ratios requiredEpic charting experience preferredSkills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and peripheral line careRespiratory skills including chest tube management, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway managementExperience with CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury careExperience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and PCA/Heparin administrationWound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE knowledgeExperience with pre/post hemodialysis management and surgical drains preferredFirst-time travelers acceptedTwo professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years (pending OK at submission)Must pass EKG testing prior to startAdditional InformationProvide direct patient care for ortho trauma, general surgery, and neurological trauma populations12 hour unit orientation plus 16 hour organizational education requiredPre-start modules required (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles), completed online and annuallyScrub colors required: navy or whiteFormer Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility rehire approval requiredRTO of 7 days or less can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignmentMust work 2 of 3 major holidaysTravel pairs are allowed if on different units with separate transportationLocal candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
