About the Role:

Your expertise will contribute to the accurate diagnosis and treatment planning of various medical conditions by capturing high-quality images of internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. You will work closely with patients to explain procedures, ensure their comfort, and obtain relevant medical histories to optimize imaging results. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, technical proficiency with ultrasound equipment, and the ability to analyze images for abnormalities. Ultimately, your work will directly impact patient care outcomes by providing essential diagnostic information to healthcare teams.
Location: 2881 Hyde Park Street, Sarasota
Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 9:15am to 5:45pm
Salary will commensurate with sonography experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography or ultrasound technology program.
- Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent credential.
- Valid state licensure or certification as required by the state of employment.
- Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with specialized ultrasound areas such as obstetrics, abdominal, vascular, or cardiac sonography.
- Additional certifications in specialty areas (e.g., Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)).
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and healthcare information technology.
- Prior experience working in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Continuing education or advanced training in ultrasound technology or related fields.
Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures on patients as ordered by physicians, ensuring high-quality imaging.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures, answering questions, and positioning them correctly.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is functioning properly and safely.
- Review images for clarity and completeness, and document findings accurately in patient records.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to discuss imaging results and assist in diagnosis.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all healthcare regulations and safety protocols.
- Manage scheduling and workflow to optimize patient throughput and minimize wait times.
Skills:
The required skills enable the Ultrasound Technician to operate complex imaging equipment accurately and safely, ensuring diagnostic images meet clinical standards. Strong communication skills are essential for explaining procedures to patients and collaborating with medical staff to interpret imaging results. Attention to detail and critical thinking are used daily to identify abnormalities and ensure image quality. Preferred skills, such as experience with specialized ultrasound techniques and familiarity with EMR systems, enhance the technician's ability to provide comprehensive diagnostic support and streamline workflow. Together, these skills ensure the technician can deliver high-quality patient care and contribute effectively to the healthcare team.
