Massage Therapist

Assess client status and formulate massage treatment plans according to client goals and massage practice standards Recognize when clients cannot attain goals and consult appropriate personnel Identify contraindications to massage and take recommended precautions Complete required documentation on the same business day as the client's visit Perform massage therapy using appropriate methods according to licensure guidelines and professional practice Incorporate relaxation massage techniques including neuromuscular, craniosacral, lymph, and reflexology Tailor education to the age-specific and individualized needs of clients Participate in program development and contribute to promotional materials and community education Prepare treatment areas, equipment, lighting, and music before patient arrival Maintain sanitation, hygiene, safety, Universal Precautions, and clean workstations Protect client privacy through appropriate draping and other methods Assist with cleaning, linen ordering and dispensing, and miscellaneous clerical duties when delegated at an outside clinic Provide age-appropriate care based on patient status and departmental policies and procedures Requirements Minimum of 2 years with a diverse massage population stated in the schedule details Massage Therapist license issued by the state(s) of practice Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required Advanced training beyond High School including completion of an accredited or approved program in Massage Therapy Intermediate computer skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Excellent organization, decision-making, and problem solving skills Ability to stand approximately 75% of the workday Ability to sit, walk, squat, bend, twist, kneel, and reach above shoulders daily Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. frequently and up to 35 lbs. occasionally Functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in massage therapy techniques, including neuromuscular, craniosacral, lymph, and reflexology, while adhering to licensure guidelines and maintaining client safety and privacy.
