Position Overview

We are currently seeking dedicated and skilled nursing professionals to join our Cardiac Telemetry Unit. This is a night shift role, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, offering an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on patient care in a cardiac setting.

Unit Information

• Location: Richmond, VA
• Number of Beds: 25
• Typical Staff Configuration:
  
  
  • Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, 1 Unit Secretary, 2-3 Techs
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, 1 Tech
• Patient Ratios: 4:1

Equipment

Key equipment utilized in the unit includes:

• EKG Machines
• Hoyer Lifts
• LifePak Monitors

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following:

• Required Skills:
  
  
  • Telemetry Experience
  • Ability to read EKGs
  • Capability to manage a fast-paced environment with various patient admissions, discharges, and procedures
• Preferred Skills:
  
  
  • Strong problem-solving skills and good judgment in modifying patient care
  • Effective communication skills, especially in notifying physicians about patient condition changes

Typical Procedures

This unit primarily focuses on:

• Performing Electrocardiograms (EKGs)
• Most cardiac procedures are conducted in the Catheterization Laboratory, not on the unit

Certifications

Candidates must hold the following certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Additional Information

Dressing Code: Navy scrubs are required.

Weekend and On-Call Requirements: Every 3rd Friday and Saturday (7 PM - 7 AM), plus an additional shift required during Halloween, the Friday after Thanksgiving, and Christmas night.

Available Positions: 3 to 5 positions open.
