Senior Research Analyst - Education Policy & Data Viz

Job Summary Summary: The Senior Research Analyst plans, coordinates, and conducts research projects and then communicates findings from those projects to further the Board of Education’s mission and strategic goals. This includes both quantitative data analysis on specific programs/policies as well as qualitative research to place those programs/policies in national context. Responsibilities Collaborate on research projects designed to assist Board members in decision‑making and policy‑setting. Plans projects by identifying pertinent research questions and coordinates with other OSBE teams and external stakeholders to identify data sources. Reviews existing research and national trends to provide context to projects. Writes research reports. Designs interactive reports and data visualizations to communicate research results. Presents to Board and other stakeholders. Assists other OSBE teams with data visualizations and design of data infrastructure for aggregate level reporting. Designs and creates visualizations for use in Board meeting materials and presentations. Participates in team meetings, staff training, and provides feedback on data quality. Assists in aggregate level data collections regarding enrollment and funding. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Good knowledge of research methods and principles of statistics. Experience Working with large datasets. Using statistical software to perform statistical analysis. Writing analytical (research) reports or materials. Compiling and analyzing data and drawing conclusions. Preferred Qualifications Good knowledge and experience in database design. Experience working on research projects concerning education. Experience with statistical tools such as R and STATA. Experience with reporting tools such as Qualtrics and SQL. Experience in data presentation tools/business intelligence such as Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS.
