Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) - Gyn/Onc - Katy, Tx

Overview Texas Oncology is looking for an Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) – Gyn/Onc to join our team in Katy, Texas. Monday–Friday, no weekends or holidays, no call. Position is Level I, II or Senior based on experience. Role Overview Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards. Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history. Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material. Provide psychosocial support to patients and families. Facilitate clinical operations and patient care: Manage patient medication refill requests from pharmacy line and record information in patient chart. Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients. Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in patient chart. Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care. Assist patients in locating available community resources. Interprofessional collaboration: Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants. Qualifications Education/Training Graduate from accredited nursing program, BSN preferred. RN state license and current registration with State Board of Nursing. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must maintain continuing education requirements. Level I 0-3 years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred. Level II Minimum 3 years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred. Level Senior Minimum 5 years nursing experience, at least 1 year in oncology strongly preferred. Oncology certification preferred.
