Food Runner Job Description

A ”Food Runner” supports the restaurant team by delivering food from the kitchen to guests quickly, accurately, and professionally. The role helps ensure orders are served at the correct table and meet the restaurant’s presentation and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver food orders from the kitchen to the correct tables.

- Confirm that dishes match the order before serving.

- Communicate with servers and kitchen staff about order details or special requests.

- Maintain food presentation and proper serving procedures.

- Assist with clearing and resetting tables when needed.

- Refill water and provide basic guest support.

- Keep the kitchen, service areas, and dining room clean and organized.

- Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace procedures.

- Support servers and other restaurant staff during busy periods.

Requirements and Skills

- Previous restaurant experience is helpful but not always required.

- Good communication and teamwork skills.

- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a busy environment.

- Professional and friendly attitude.

- Ability to stand, walk, and carry food trays for extended periods.

- Attention to detail and knowledge of basic food safety practices.

- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift and carry food trays or dishes.

- Ability to stand and walk for long periods.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

A food runner typically reports to the ”restaurant manager, floor manager, head server or Main person.
