Job Overview Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking an Assembly Specialist Manufacturing Manager to lead the S15 Assembly Line in Kinston, NC, overseeing manufacturing activities, tools, and personnel while ensuring coordination across multiple processes. The role serves as deputy to the Business Unit Leader (PLM) and commands a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities Manage all employees assigned to the Station: selection, performance, development, and recognition. Provide direction and oversight of production activities and monitor aircraft progress through the Station. Act as role‑model and leader in compliance with OSHA rules and company safety commitments. Lead the multi‑functional team during the Business Unit Leader’s absence. Report and update upper management on aircraft progress, identify problems, and propose solutions. Coordinate Station activities across the line and with relevant parties. Ensure material availability to guarantee workflow. Facilitate integration of American and European teams, fostering cooperation. Proactively identify and resolve manufacturing issues early to prevent escalation. Engage quality, procurement, and specialty support for workflow and process improvement. Forecast manpower needs based on workload and skill requirements. Achieve annual objectives (Continuous Improvement, Quality Gates, KPIs). Ensure work packages comply with cost, quality, and customer expectations. Maintain aircraft documentation for hand‑over to the next Station. Manage daily attendance, time, and approval of all value‑added work. Support AOS improvement activities and master production pace control, SQCDP boards, and daily quality gates. Mentor and develop Lead Technicians in leadership and production processes. Provide development plans, training insights, and training criteria to the department. Handle corrective actions with employees as necessary. Participate in the Crisis Management Team and act as escalation point on non‑shift and off‑shift hours. Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate's Degree required. Minimum 4 years in aviation manufacturing engineering, assembly processes, or related field. Proven leadership experience. Knowledge of quality and logistics regulations in aviation manufacturing. Effective communication at all levels and structured problem‑solving skills. Ability to plan and organize to achieve results. Knowledge of Quality Management Systems. Experience with production management systems. High flexibility and initiative. Understanding of industry safety practices and procedures. Domestic and international travel (approx. 5%). U.S. citizenship required. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering. 2‑5 years of aviation leadership experience. Experience in a complex, dynamic environment with a matrixed reporting structure. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and MES. Additional language proficiency is a plus. Physical Requirements Vision, hearing, and speaking adequate for workplace interactions. Operate tools, hydraulic lifts, and equipment. Carry up to 20 lbs (9 kg) occasionally; lift up to 30 lbs (14 kg) occasionally. Push/pull items, sit, stand, squat, and walk throughout the facility. Travel overseas and domestically as required.
