Within its state-of-the-art facilities, veterans can access primary care services for routine check-ups and preventive care. The medical center also specializes in providing various forms of specialty care, encompassing fields like cardiology, orthopedics, and neurology, ensuring veterans receive specialized treatment. Surgical services, both inpatient and outpatient, are available to address a wide range of medical conditions. This VA Medical Center places a significant emphasis on mental and behavioral health care, offering counseling, therapy, and treatment for conditions such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety and provides a vital support service, including social work, case management, and rehabilitation programs to address veterans' social and emotional needs. MLT - RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Medical Lab Technician shall cover the range of routine and STAT testing on blood, urine, and other body fluids.
• Collecting, transporting, processing, and evaluating specimens for all lab sections.
• The Medical Lab Technician stores and prepares reagents, standards, and calibrators. Maintaining, calibrating, cleaning, and effecting repairs of laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Documenting those functions and informing supervisory staff of any problems encountered.
• Preparing, testing, recording, and interpreting quality control materials. Taking corrective action for out-of-control results, and immediately notifying supervisory staff of any problems encountered.
• The Medical Lab Technician tests, verifies, and reports patient test results in accordance with established protocols. Recognizing and responding to indications of malfunctions in testing and reporting. Immediately evaluating current test results to available prior test results for acceptability. Reporting critical results in accordance with established protocols.

MLT - REQUIREMENTS

• Must have twelve (12) months as a Medical Technician with Generalist experience.
• Must have an associate's degree in medical technology or one of the Biological Science (Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, etc.) from an accredited college or university.
• Shall be certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or an equivalent MLT or CLT certification (with appropriate training) and a minimum of one (1) year of experience.
• Must have certification in Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
