Overview: Nexus HR is seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to oversee the day-to-day pharmacy operations of its multi-state, closed-door mail-order pharmacy in Bloomingdale, Illinois. The PIC will have primary responsibility for ensuring that pharmacy operations comply with applicable federal and state pharmacy regulations, while maintaining high standards for medication safety, dispensing accuracy, controlled-substance management, inventory control, and patient care.

About the job

The Pharmacist in Charge will oversee pharmacy operations at its closed-door, multi-state mail-order pharmacy in Bloomingdale, IL. The PIC will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state pharmacy regulations, overseeing prescription verification and dispensing, maintaining medication safety and controlled-substance accountability, managing inventory, and supervising pharmacy staff. This role will also coordinate closely with the company’s 3PL partner to ensure medications are accurately packaged, securely handled, tracked, and delivered on time to correctional facilities, group homes, residential care organizations, specialty clinics, and other facility-based customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with federal and state pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, and Board of Pharmacy standards.

• Oversee prescription verification, dispensing, labeling, packaging, and medication safety.

• Maintain accurate records for prescriptions, controlled substances, and pharmacy operations.

• Manage pharmacy inventory, including stock levels, expiration dates, and controlled substances.

• Supervise, train, and support pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy staff.

• Coordinate with the 3PL provider to ensure accurate, secure, and timely medication shipments.

• Investigate medication errors, shipment issues, complaints, and other incidents; implement corrective actions.

• Maintain pharmacy licenses, certifications, policies, and regulatory readiness.

• Communicate with healthcare providers and facility customers regarding prescription or medication-related concerns.

• Oversee pharmacist counseling and patient medication education when applicable.

Qualifications :

• 2+ years of Pharmacist in Charge experience in Long-Term Care, institutional, specialty, correctional, controlled-substance, and multi-state pharmacy operations preferred.

• Active and unrestricted Illinois Pharmacist License.

• Active pharmacist licenses in multiple states, with the ability to obtain additional state licenses as needed.

• Experienced, motivated, and patient-focused with a commitment to improving care.

• Strong knowledge of pharmacy regulations, medication safety, and controlled-substance requirements.

• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Able to work in Bloomingdale, IL.
