Construction Diesel Technician

In this role, you will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide variety of construction equipment, both in the shop and out in the field. Construction Diesel Technician Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Diagnostics & Repair:
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and transmissions.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical issues and make data-driven repairs.
- Preventive Maintenance:
- Perform scheduled PMs on construction equipment and fleet vehicles to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment life.
- Conduct inspections of tires, fluid levels, filters, and wear components using checklists and OEM guidelines.
- Field Service & Emergency Repairs:
- Respond to equipment breakdowns on job sites and perform field-based repairs quickly and safely.
- Communicate with operators and supervisors to assess issues and determine repair priorities.
- Equipment Variety & Versatility:
- Maintain and repair a wide range of equipment including:
- Excavators, dozers, loaders, pavers, rollers, dump trucks, trailers, and company trucks.
- Flex between shop work and field support based on operational needs.
- Documentation & Safety Compliance:
- Accurately record maintenance activities, inspections, and parts used in service software or paper logs.
- Follow safety protocols, PPE requirements, and company policies at all times.
- Support DOT and OSHA compliance through proper recordkeeping and safe practices.
Desired Qualifications:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience as a diesel technician, preferably in a construction or heavy equipment setting.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications in diesel or heavy equipment repair preferred.
- Valid driver's license; ability to obtain DOT Medical Card (CDL a plus).
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mobile equipment diagnostics.
- Ability to weld, fabricate, or perform basic fabrication repairs is a plus.
- Must be dependable, safety-focused, and capable of working independently or with a team.
