Registered Nurse - Pulmonary - Casual

Job Summary Location: Methodist Physicians Clinic – HealthWest, 16120 W Dodge Rd., Omaha, NE. Schedule: Casual/PRN on an as‑needed basis, Monday‑Friday, 8am‑5pm. Registered Nurses (RNs) will monitor, record, and report changes in patient conditions and be involved in all aspects of patient health. Precision and accuracy in maintaining detailed reports and relaying information to physicians or patients is essential. We offer competitive pay and excellent benefits. Responsibilities Document all lab procedures and appointments on tracking forms; complete and follow up on missed appointments. Assist Health Coaches with patient lists and scheduling appointments. Provide patient and family education, ensuring adequate knowledge and recommending appropriate community resources. Perform telephone triage to determine patient needs, record and report patient conditions to the provider, and advise patients per provider instructions. Return patient calls within 90 minutes based on medical priority. Maintain clean, organized work areas according to protocol. Handle prescription renewals and inquiries, relaying information to pharmacy. Prepare exam rooms and equipment per provider protocol. Prepare patients for provider exams by reviewing records, weighing, checking vital signs, medication reconciliation, and obtaining relevant information. Retrieve lab work and records as directed by the provider. Dispense medications under provider direction; instruct patients on medication use. Assist or perform phlebotomy with proper labeling and handling of specimens; complete requisitions accurately. Ensure accuracy of order entry and documentation. Answer phone calls and return messages according to protocol. Provide test results according to protocol. Complete pharmacy refill requests accurately. Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Experience No prior experience required unless specialty listed. 2 years of general nursing experience required for Heart Consultants; 1 year of cardiology experience preferred. Licenses & Certifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; valid compact multistate license to work in Nebraska or Iowa, or temporary permit while awaiting licensure. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) – required at hiring, must be obtained within 3 months. American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required. Skills & Knowledge Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures. Ability to recognize and diagnose diseases, deformities, and illnesses. Effective time‑management and task prioritization. Proficient typing skills. Providing caring patient care services and communicating with patients and families. Critical listening and problem‑solving during daily activities. Proficiency in computer programs containing patient information. Strong verbal communication skills; ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Physical Requirements Medium weight demands, up to 50 pounds. Occasional activities: climbing, crawling, kneeling, sitting. Frequent activities: balancing, carrying, crouching, keyboarding/typing, lifting, pushing, repetitive motions. Constantly performed activities: gripping, hearing, reaching, speaking, standing, walking. Job Hazards Electrical shock/static, rare radiation (gamma, alpha, beta), occasional equipment/machinery hazards, frequent exposure to biological agents, sharps, chemicals, mechanical vibration.
