Rigging Shop Assistant

Rigging AssistantAs the Rigging Assistant, you will perform splicing, swaging, limited customer service and other duties as assigned. This position requires obtaining certification from cordage vendors for splicing different types of cordage to ensure top quality product.Duties/Responsibilities:Perform splicing and swaging for customer ordersAssist in the installation of rigging productUnderstand proper use for all equipment and tools used in the field and shopEnsure the rigging staff are representing the highest expression of our brand and the service we provideDrive sales through engagement of customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledgeProduce quotes, orders, production and payment for rigging products and servicesEducate store staff and services and capabilities of the rigging shopProtects crew members and customers by providing a safe and clean shop environmentEnsure all safety rules and standards are followed while working in the shop and the fieldMaintain the stability and reputation of the shop by complying with all legal requirementsAvailable to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including nights, weekends and some holidays.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Excellent sales and customer service skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.General sailing and boat knowledge with the ability to read measurements, both imperial and metricPhysical Requirements:Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.Manual dexterity to evaluate, install, and modify equipment.Other Requirements:Must be at least 21 years oldMust maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving recordWilling to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and DMV checks per the West Marine Driver Fleet Safety ProgramWilling to work a varied shift based upon business needs, including unscheduled overtimeWest Marine offers a wide range of benefits, which include medical/dental/vision, various voluntary benefits, 401k, and paid time off.
