Bus Driver

Hiawatha CUSD #426 is looking for several bus drivers. Responsibilities include obeying all traffic laws, observing all mandatory safety regulations for school buses, monitoring and maintaining student conduct when students are on bus, reporting any student concerns to the transportation coordinator and building principals, keeping assigned bus clean, keeping to assigned schedule, checking bus (performing pre-trip inspection) before each operation for mechanical defects, notifying the Transportation Coordinator in case of mechanical failure or lateness while on the route, picking up and releasing students only at authorized locations, exercising responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips, transporting only authorized students, reporting all accidents and completing required reports, enforcing district policy on student behavior on buses, attending training that is required by the school district (e.g. random drug testing, refresher course, etc.), demonstrating regular and punctual attendance, maintaining a positive attitude and professional demeanor when dealing with school personnel and the public as a school leader. Requirements include a valid CDL Class B license with School Bus endorsement and a demonstrated desire to help all children. Reports to: Transportation Coordinator. Terms of employment include a nine month school year. Salary and work to be established by Board based upon recommendation by the Superintendent.
