Through trusted biblical teaching, media, and educational resources, Moody reaches audiences around the world with the gospel and seeks to make a lasting Kingdom impact.The Opportunity Reporting to the Senior Director of Facilities, the Facilities Engineering Manager provides leadership and oversight for the Engineering Services team and is responsible for the reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of campus building systems and infrastructure. This role leads a team of skilled engineering professionals while overseeing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, building automation systems, HVAC equipment, power plant operations, electrical systems, elevators, plumbing systems, and food service equipment. The Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, team development, and long-term capital planning to support the mission and strategic objectives of Moody Bible Institute.What You'll Be DoingLeadership & Team ManagementLead, coach, and develop full-time and part-time Engineering Services staff. Assign, prioritize, and monitor work activities to ensure efficient department operations. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback, mentorship, and professional development. Oversee attendance, scheduling, payroll administration, overtime management, and employee relations matters.Facilities Operations & MaintenanceDirect and support the operation, troubleshooting, and repair of campus infrastructure systems, including: HVAC and building automation systems Boilers and heating systems Centrifugal chillers and refrigeration equipment Ventilation and air conditioning equipment Pumps and compressors Plumbing systems Electrical systems Elevators Food service equipment and appliances Coordinate emergency repairs and system failures to minimize disruptions to campus operations. Ensure facilities operate safely, reliably, and efficiently in support of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.Preventive & Predictive MaintenanceDevelop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track work orders, maintenance schedules, equipment history, and performance metrics. Monitor equipment condition and lifecycle needs to maximize asset reliability and reduce operational risks.Capital Planning & Continuous ImprovementDevelop and maintain short- and long-range maintenance and capital improvement plans. Prepare recommendations and proposals for repairs, replacements, and infrastructure upgrades. Identify opportunities to improve system performance, energy efficiency, and operational effectiveness. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align maintenance priorities with campus needs.Technical Expertise & Project SupportServe as a technical resource for facilities systems, controls, and infrastructure projects. Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors on facility improvement initiatives and system modifications. Provide input during design, construction, and commissioning activities related to campus infrastructure projects.Compliance & SafetyEnsure compliance with applicable city, state, and federal building regulations and safety standards. Maintain compliance with OSHA requirements and industry best practices. Support campus emergency preparedness and response efforts related to facilities systems. Maintain appropriate documentation, records, certifications, and inspection requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.Top Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, certifications, and relevant professional experience. Minimum of five (5) years of experience operating and maintaining commercial or institutional building systems and mechanical equipment. Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or team leadership experience. At least two (2) years of hands-on experience working with refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. Working knowledge of: HVAC systems and controls Building automation systems (BAS) Fire alarm systems Electrical systems Elevator operations Mechanical and building maintenance practices Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficiency with computers and maintenance management software systems. Possession of applicable licenses or certifications, including Universal EPA Refrigeration Certification and other trade-related certifications as required. Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.Preferred Qualifications Ten (10) or more years of building engineering and facilities maintenance experience, including team leadership. Industry certifications relevant to building engineering, facilities operations, or maintenance management. Experience managing large institutional, higher education, healthcare, or commercial facilities. Knowledge of energy management and building efficiency best practices.Work Environment Candidates must demonstrate alignment with Moody Bible Institute's mission, doctrinal beliefs, and Christian values. The Facility Engineering Manager will regularly work in mechanical rooms, utility spaces, rooftops, crawl spaces, shafts, and other operational environments throughout campus. The role requires frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The position also requires the use of standard office equipment, hand tools, and specialized maintenance equipment. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Due to the nature of campus operations, occasional evening, weekend, holiday, and emergency response coverage may be required.
