The delivery driver will carry a valid Class 'A' license. This position requires the safe operation of Northgate fleet equipment. This position requires DOT compliance. Delivery drivers may be certified and should be capable to safely operate material handling equipment. This position requires the ability to safely perform work of physical nature. This position may require lifting cases, bags, boxes and pallets of varying weight from floor level to chest level. This position works in a fast-paced environment. The delivery driver will be detail oriented, urgently seeking to provide Northgate associates and customers with excellent service. They are a constant representative of the Company while on the road or when delivering product. As a result, we expect drivers to be safe, courteous and professional at all times.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Class A LicenseTractor Trailer experienceWarehouse KnowledgeLoading and unloading palletsDelivery accuracy & auditing loadsA safe driving record with a continuous effort to uphold the highest safety standardsSafety inspection of vehicle, equipment, and cargo to ensure all safety and legal requirements are securedReport any issues with vehicle or equipment immediately to SupervisorsObeying and following applicable traffics lawsCommunicating and coordinating with transportation dispatchersPositive daily associate and customer interaction and maintaining good relations within the storesNo preventable accidents resulting in a fatality or catastrophic injury in driving historyNo more than one (1) moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicleMust pass a road test and be able to back into different spaced docks with accuracy, including but not limited to, wide, narrow, and high volumeMust be able to drive in a wide range of environmental conditions, including but not limited to, rain, wind, cold weather, hot weather, etcAbility to operate a forklift and pallet jacksMust be able to use handheld technology and smart phone applicationsMust be able to operate all safety and operational functions of equipmentMust pass a DOT physical and pre-employment drug screenMaintaining a clean, sanitary and safe work areaMust be able to work independently, and in a team settingMust be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures, and Code of conductMust be flexible with work schedule (Day/Evening/Weekends/Holidays)Must ensure the use of wheel chocks when loading/unloading trailersMust use safety gate when parked at a dock to avoid entry to trailerPerforms other related duties as assignedPosition Requirements and Conditions:Must have an acceptable MVR (Motor Vehicle Record)DOT (Department of Transportation) ComplianceForklift/Pallet-jack certificationEducation/Experience/Skills:High School Diploma RequiredClass A LicenseExcellent communication skillsAbility to read and write2+ years' experiencePhysical Demands and Conditions:Must be capable to safely bend, stand, and climb into and out of the truckMust be able to lift approximately 90 lbs, or more if required by the essential function of the jobSpecific vision abilities required; close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focusSitting for a long period of timeRequired to stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, squat, lift, push, pull, etc.Required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and to reach with hands and armsRequired to load and unload trailersRequired to have excellent hearingAbility to operate a forklift and electric pallet jacksImportant Disclaimer Notice:The job duties, elements, responsibilities, skills, functions, experience, educational factors, and the requirements and conditions listed in this job description are representative only and not exhaustive of the tasks that an employee may be required to perform.
