Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - Part Time

Occupational Therapy AssistantImplements occupational therapy services under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. Provides occupational therapy to patients, adult or geriatric, who have conditions that are mentally, physically, developmentally, or emotionally disabling. Performs goal-directed activities to help improve physical or cognitive skills and teaches patients to use assistive devices in order to be more self-sufficient.1. Assist with the patient evaluation, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, by obtaining information such as occupational role, activities of daily living, history, cognition, perception, strength, and range of motion. 2. Assist with establishing the patient's treatment plan and goals. 3. Provides direct patient care services utilizing appropriate procedures, equipment, and techniques under the supervision of Occupational Therapist. 4. Modifies treatment approaches to reflect the needs of the patient under the supervision of Occupational Therapist. 5. Adapts intervention of the environment, tools, materials, and activities according to the needs of the patient and his/her sociocultural contact. 6. Communicates and interacts with other team members and the patient's family and care givers. 7. Formulates discontinuation of patient care and follow-up plans under the supervision of Occupational Therapist. 8. Provides documentation of patient care in accordance with established criteria. 9. Prioritizes caseload to ensure that optimal service and patient care are provided in a timely, appropriate, and quality manner. 10. Maintains treatment area, equipment, and supply inventory. 11. Participates in continuous quality improvement projects.Associate Degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy and a current license to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant from the State of Alabama.One (1) year experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in a hospital setting preferred.
