Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (0630–1830) | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 33-bed ICU setting with an average daily census of 16, managing adult patients with diagnoses including trauma, cardiac conditions, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, respiratory distress, and substance abuse/overdose
• Maintain a 1:2–3 nurse-to-patient ratio; float to PCU or MedSurg as needed at the applicable unit ratio (1:4 or 1:5)
• Titrate cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation drips as required
• Read, interpret, and document cardiac monitor strips using GE monitoring equipment; work alongside tele tech oversight
• Manage patients on respiratory support ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation; troubleshoot RT equipment as needed
• Fulfill minimum holiday requirement of 2 holidays falling within the contract time frame; report within 30 minutes if called back in from on-call status

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license with ICU experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Must successfully pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; compliance is required for the duration of the contract
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and/or Dignity) are not eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience managing titratable drips including cardiac, insulin, and sedation infusions
• Familiarity with GE cardiac monitoring systems and independent strip interpretation
• Experience with a broad acuity range of ICU patients including post-procedural cardiac care (post-stent, pacemaker placement) and vascular cases
