Lead Mechanical Engineer.

Responsibilities Lead Mechanical Engineer on an inter‑related team of engineers/architects engaged in construction, design and review for the Directorate of Public Works. Primarily concerned with mechanical equipment and utility systems including HVAC, central steam, refrigeration, and sewage treatment plants. Plan and supervise steam, water, gas, and electrical distribution systems, as well as mechanical, plumbing, kitchen, food storage, and energy‑conservation systems and equipment. Serve as project manager for a specified number of mechanical engineering projects to be designed and constructed annually. Requirements Successful background investigation and suitability determination. Valid state Driver's License in any of the 50 U.S. states or territories to operate vehicles. Contracting Officer Representative (COR) certification within 4 months of start date. Secret security clearance required. Financial Disclosure Statement (OGE Form 450) required. 5% business travel or TDY requirement. One‑year probationary period unless previously met 5 CFR Part 11 requirements. Qualifications Basic Requirement for Lead Mechanical Engineer Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program or equivalent coursework covering statics, dynamics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical fields and circuits, and materials science. Or combination of education and experience providing comprehensive knowledge of engineering sciences, demonstrated by: professional registration or licensure (EI, EIT, PE), FE exam pass, or at least 60 semester hours in required subjects. Specialized Experience – One year of experience preparing plans, specifications, design criteria, and cost estimates for HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation or heating systems; reviewing drawings for compliance; providing technical advice on mechanical phases of utility systems; preparing construction contract documentation.
