Job Description

The Human Resources Director (HRD) of Operations will report to the VP of HR for Amcor Flexibles North America (AFNA). This role will have overall Human Resource responsibility for 5 plant locations, commercial organization, and various central functions. The HRD will serve as a key business partner to their assigned locations and operational leaders. As a strategic partner, the HRD aligns business objectives and acts as employee champion and change agent driving human capital initiatives while serving as a trusted advisor on all HR matters. The HRD will formulate partnerships across the HR function to deliver value added services to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization.

Your Role in Unpacking Possibilities

• Accountable for all HR activities in assigned plant locations and functions.

• Partners with manufacturing leadership, commercial organization, and central functions to drives human capital initiatives for their respective area(s). These programs include the performance management process and calibration, development, and cascading of performance goals, employee engagement survey execution and action planning, talent review process and strategy development.

• Partners with talent acquisition and functional leaders to ensure top talent is secured for all open positions.

• Assures compliance with collective bargaining agreements including contract interpretation, disciplinary and grievance process; assists with arbitration case preparation, labor preparation, negotiations, contingency planning and other potential legal matters.

• Establishes and analyzes key HR metrics and provides leadership support to ensure business objectives are met.

• Drives a culture of positive employee relations.

• Provides guidance to leaders regarding employee matters to include performance coaching, performance improvement plans, individual development plans, conducting employee investigations, discipline, and terminations.

• Responsible for leading, coaching and developing a large team of HR Business Partners in support of overall Human Resources and business strategy.

• Based on the needs of the business, consults with leaders for workforce planning which may include organizational redesign work, retention initiatives, facilitation of a talent review/selection process, job description creation and analysis, promotions, succession planning, etc.

• Ensure alignment with the needs of the business in the creation and delivery of HR programs.

• Partners with the learning and development department to identify training needs and culture activities.

• Partner with operations leaders and HR to make appropriate employee related decisions which are balanced, consistent and aligned with our values and culture.

What We Want From You

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field

• 10+ years of progressive Human Resource experience

• Multi-plant HR experience

• Employee and Labor relations experience, including union-free exposure

• Working knowledge of HR compliance, employment laws and regulatory requirements.

• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building with a strong collaborative working style

• Demonstrated ability of taking on complex business problems and building viable solutions

• Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within North America.

Education and/or Experience Preferred:

• Master's degree

• Combination of field operations and corporate/COE experience

• HR experience in a manufacturing environment

• Labor relations experience, including significant role in contract negotiations (1st or 2nd Chair), arbitrations and grievances

• Prior experience with acquisitions, integrations and/or plant closures
