Lead Housekeeper

Description

The Lead Housekeeper is responsible for overseeing daily housekeeping operations to ensure guest rooms and public areas meet the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation. This role supervises housekeeping staff, conducts daily room inspections, coordinates room status updates with the Front Desk, and ensures compliance with all housekeeping policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities include assigning and monitoring daily workloads, maintaining adequate inventory and supplies, preparing staff schedules, training and developing team members, and ensuring all employees have the necessary equipment and uniforms to perform their duties effectively. The supervisor will also conduct quality inspections, provide coaching and performance feedback, recognize employee achievements, and support a positive and productive work environment.

The position plays an important role in achieving departmental and property financial goals by maintaining operational efficiency, controlling supply levels, and ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction. Additional responsibilities include responding to guest concerns, implementing service improvement initiatives, preparing work orders for maintenance issues, and immediately reporting any safety hazards or security concerns to management.

Candidates must possess strong leadership, organizational, communication, and customer service skills, with the ability to motivate teams and maintain high-quality standards in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Schedule Requirement: This position requires availability to work all weekends and holidays as part of the regular work schedule.

Requirements

• Ensures guest room status is communicated to the Front Desk in a timely and efficient manner.
• Inspects guestrooms on a daily basis.
• Obtains list of rooms to be cleaned immediately and list of prospective check-outs or discharges to prepare work assignments.
• Inventories stock to ensure adequate supplies.
• Supports and supervises an effective inspection program for all guestrooms and public space.
• Understands the impact of department's operations on the overall property financial goals and objectives and manages to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
• Ensures all employees have proper supplies, equipment and uniforms.
• Communicates areas that need attention to staff and follows up to ensure understanding.
• Supervises daily Housekeeping shift operations and ensures compliance with all housekeeping policies, standards and procedures.
• Observes service behaviors of employees and provides feedback to individuals.
• Celebrates successes and publicly recognizes the contributions of team members.
• Train and supervise all new associates and provide on-going training for current staff.
• Prepare schedules for the staff and complete the work distribution report, and ensuring all sections are covered
• Write up work orders for all repairs and immediately report any broken door locks or safety hazards to management for immediate attention.
• Able to lift/move 50 pounds
