This role focuses on performing high-quality blood draws at a patient services center while providing a safe, comfortable, and professional experience for every patient.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and efficient blood draws from patients in a patient services center setting.

• Prepare patients for blood collection by verifying identity, explaining procedures, and addressing questions or concerns.

• Collect blood specimens using proper phlebotomy techniques and follow established safety and infection control procedures.

• Label and handle specimens carefully to ensure accurate identification and integrity for laboratory testing.

• Provide courteous and professional customer service to all patients and visitors.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the patient services center.

• Follow all established protocols, guidelines, and regulatory requirements related to blood collection and specimen handling.

• Communicate effectively with colleagues and other healthcare professionals to support smooth patient flow and service delivery.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience performing blood draws in a clinical or patient services center environment.

• Strong phlebotomy skills with the ability to collect blood specimens safely and accurately.

• Phlebotomy certification from a recognized program or certifying body.

• Knowledge of proper blood collection procedures and specimen handling requirements.

• Ability to provide professional and empathetic customer service to patients.

• Attention to detail when labeling, documenting, and handling specimens.

• Ability to follow established protocols, safety standards, and infection control practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a patient-facing healthcare or laboratory setting.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and coworkers.

• Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when working with individuals who may be anxious about blood draws.

• Organizational skills to manage multiple patients and tasks in a busy environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in a patient services center where the phlebotomist works directly with patients throughout the day. The environment involves frequent patient interaction, regular use of phlebotomy equipment and supplies, and adherence to strict safety and infection control standards. The role requires standing for extended periods, working at blood draw stations, and maintaining a clean and orderly workspace. Professional attire suitable for a clinical setting is expected.

This is a Contract position based out of Wesley Chapel, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $23.00/hr.
