BLS, ACLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC certifications are required. Description: We are seeking a Travel RN to join the Emergency Department team. The unit has a total of 27 beds. The staffing consists of approximately 60 staff members, with staffing adjusted throughout the day based on patient volume. Core staffing includes 4 RNs (or 3 RNs and a medic), 1 EMT, and 1 secretary. Maximum staffing may include 7 RNs and 1 medic (or 6 RNs and 2 medics), 3 EMTs, and 1 secretary. The patient ratios are typically 4:1, supplemented by a charge nurse who generally does not have a patient assignment. This allows for coverage in the event of a critical patient admission. The unit is equipped for various procedures typical in a Level II trauma center and a certified chest pain center. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech (DOS platform). Candidates with experience working in a high-volume emergency department are preferred. Key responsibilities include psych/at-risk patient care with an emphasis on patient safety monitoring. Familiarity with procedural sedation techniques, primarily using Propofol, Etomidate, and Ketamine, is valued. The ideal candidate will be proactive and engaged in anticipating the next steps in patient care. Exceptional patient engagement and communication skills are essential to effectively support patient needs. Our department has significantly decreased opioid usage by 34% through the implementation of alternative pain management therapies, which is appreciated by the community. The night shift team is stable, with consistent leadership in the charge nurse role. Leadership is highly involved, often providing direct patient care and facilitating education and training for the staff. We prioritize high-quality care and frequently engage in patient rounding to enhance the overall patient experience.
