Armed Security Officer - Part Time

Position Armed Security Officer (Part-Time). Location: Tinley Park, Illinois. Pay: $20 per hour. Benefits include paid uniforms, holiday pay, and a retirement program. Job Description FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt. Part‑time hours. Location: Tinley Park, IL. Start rate: $20 per hour. About the Job Serve as an Armed Security Officer and provide emergency aid, security, and protection of life and property of clients by patrolling a fixed post business. Being a first responder requires dedication, excellence, commitment, respect, partnership building, creativity, resourcefulness, and compassion. Officer Responsibilities Patrol assigned property to prevent crime and enforce laws and business policies. Prevent, observe, report and act on conditions of crime and danger. Check buildings, observe structures, people and vehicles for suspicious activity, and make arrests as appropriate. Provide professional and credible testimony in a court of law. Prepare and write reports related to arrests, incidents, and daily activity. Deliver excellent internal and external customer service, creating a positive experience for customers through professional and courteous behavior. Develop safe work habits and follow all required safety policies, procedures and techniques, contributing to the safety of self, co‑workers and the public. Participate in ongoing training. Follow standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook and General Orders. Produce an acceptable quantity and quality of work completed within established timelines. Support and respect diversity in the workplace. Perform any other duties assigned. Officer Requirements High school qualification or equivalent. At least 21 years of age and a United States citizen. Preference for military or law enforcement background. Able to obtain a PERC license within 30 days of employment. Possess a valid FOID. Have or be able to obtain a 230 certificate within 30 days of employment. Possess a valid driver’s license and meet the department’s insurance requirements. Must have no felony or misdemeanor convictions that would adversely affect suitability for the role. Ability to apply criminal justice and crime prevention techniques. Capability to read and interpret laws and orders. Ability to perform departmentally authorized use of force techniques. Strong composure in adverse conditions. Advanced skill in operating firearms and equipment safely, skillfully and in compliance with all laws and regulations. Ability to work under stress and remain calm, and to calm others during rapidly changing circumstances. Multitasking ability with conflicting events occurring simultaneously. Basic computer proficiency for scheduling, reporting, and other duties. Excellent communication skills for collaboration under any condition. Work in a 24‑hour environment with varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. Physical Requirements Constant: seeing, hearing, feeling, standing, walking, and sitting. Occasional: carrying objects over 50 pounds, reaching, stooping, climbing, balancing, bending, twisting, handling paperwork, running, jumping, crawling, kneeling. Additional Requirements Must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screening (including marijuana), psychological evaluation, written test and physical test.
