Histology Technician

Position for a Histology Technician. Shift is Monday through Friday from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Minimum of two years of relevant experience is required. First-time applicants will not be accepted. No weekend work is required. National certification is required. On-call duties are not required. Clinician will not float within scope to meet facility needs. This position does not require floating to sister facilities. Block schedule accommodations are open for discussion. Locals outside a 100-mile radius will not be accepted. Requests for time off should not exceed five days. Client may cancel up to three shifts at any time. On-call hours do not count toward guaranteed minimum hours. Special requirements include strong skills in embedding and microtomy.

General Skills Experience Required:

• Tissue processing.
• Experience with automated and manual microtomes.
• Cuts tissue sections using microtome and cryostat.
• Embeds various specimens including GI and large specimens.
• Proficient in embedding molds for small and large specimens.
• Expertise in embedding skin techniques and handling histology cassettes.
• Experience in microtomy of fatty and hard tissues.
• Preparation of paraffin wax sections with precision microtomy.

Histology Staining Experience Required:

• Preparation of slides for staining.
• Proficient with Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining.
• Preferred experience with Epic charting system.

Facility Type: Short-term acute care. Total staff beds: 672. Magnet designation: Yes. Teaching facility: Yes. Trauma level: III. Daily average of 1800 blocks processed. Position primarily involves routine embedding and microtomy of biopsies and large specimens. Special equipment may include Leica H&E stainers and automated microtomes. Travel experience is required. Each candidate can be submitted to one position at a time. Minimum of one supervisor reference is required during the submission process. Candidates may float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed.
