AZ Poder: Field Director

The AZ Poder Field Director will lead the strategic planning, coordination, and implementation of a robust, people-powered electoral field operation to turnout and persuade voters in alignment with AZ Poder's values and campaign priorities. This person will manage a diverse team of canvassers, field organizers, and volunteers to engage directly with voters, turn out the base, and build lasting relationships in Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities across the west side of Phoenix and surrounding areas.

This is not a traditional top-down field role. The ideal candidate is an experienced field strategist who believes in community-led organizing, has deep respect for relational work, and understands the importance of building power with, not for, our people. This is a cycle job ending December 2026 with potential opportunity for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and manage a comprehensive, values-aligned electoral field plan that meets daily, weekly, and overall campaign organizing goals
• Hire, train, supervise, and support field organizers, canvass leads, and canvassers (paid and volunteer teams)
• Develop and oversee daily canvass operations, including turf cutting, data collection, script development, and voter targeting
• Use voter data tools (e.g. VAN, PDI) to track progress, measure impact, and make data-driven adjustments to the field strategy
• Facilitate regular team meetings, political education, and coaching rooted in justice, equity, and accountability
• Build a culture of care, discipline, and joy within the field team; address conflict and burnout with compassion and rigor
• Coordinate with communications and data teams to align messaging and voter engagement strategies
• Work with AZP's attorney, Executive Director, and other relevant staff to ensure all activities comply with C4 electoral campaign laws, reporting requirements, and internal protocols
• Represent the campaign in coalition spaces, community events, and electoral tables as needed
• Participate in campaign-wide strategic planning and evaluation processes

Required Qualifications:

• 3-5 cycles of PAC, campaign, or 501(c)4 electoral field work, including at least 1 cycle managing large canvassing or field teams. Previous experience as a Field Director or Organizing Director is a plus
• Deep understanding of grassroots electoral field strategy, data-driven targeting, and community-centered organizing
• Experience training and organizing volunteer teams, especially on voter turnout and persuasion tactics
• Strong work experience with VAN
• Proven ability to develop and track field metrics, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to anti-racist, feminist, decolonial, and LGBTQ+ affirming practices
• Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
• Spanish fluency highly preferred; additional languages (especially Indigenous or immigrant community languages) a plus
• Previous experience in Arizona electoral or organizing work a plus
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to work evenings/weekends as needed

Logistics:

• Salary: $6,500 per month
• Status: Full-time, Temporary (Campaign cycle)
• Benefits: AZ Poder offers a competitive benefits package covering 100% of employee medical insurance premiums and a phone stipend.
• Location: Phoenix, AZ (In-person, with some travel required)
