Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring an IN or Compact RN license and a minimum of 18 months of Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting
• General medical-surgical patient population with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the Med/Surg units and potentially to affiliate hospitals nearby
• Cerner EMR experience preferred; Cerner charting is required

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license in hand prior to start date
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required (AHA and RQI formats accepted)
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg experience required
• Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited university required
• Skills required include: IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, feeding tube care and management, heparin administration, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Skills preferred include: starting and maintaining IVs, IV insulin protocols
• 2 supervisor references required for consideration
• SSN and date of birth required for consideration

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Indiana residents are not accepted for this position
• Current or former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 consecutive months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a designated break before reapplying; out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break, effective 2/24/26
• Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved; additional RTO requires facility approval
• Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Charge pay is available for this position
